In your Salesforce org, to prevent any security issues, you might be concerned about the users accessing the platform. Or, to prevent any after-hours work from happening, you would want to restrict the login hours for the users. By default, Salesforce doesn’t restrict the time for login access.
However, for added security, administrators can restrict it. As an administrator, you can update profiles to limit login hours in Salesforce. Hence, users have access only at the specified times.
Here’s how we can do that.
Restrict Login Access By Time in Salesforce
Restricting login access by time is a feature the administrator can only achieve at the profile level. Administrators can specify the hours users can log in for each profile. This is a part of the control access for organizations. For example, you can deny login access during evenings and weekends for employees who only need to access customer data during business hours.
If users are logged in when their login hours end, they can continue to view their current page but can’t take any further action.
Let’s see how you can implement this feature and restrict users from logging in after work hours.
How to Restrict Login Hours in Salesforce?
Here is a step-by-step guide on setting login hours in Salesforce.
- Navigate to Setup, and in the Quick Find box, enter Profiles, and then select Profiles.
- Select a profile.
- Depending on which user interface you’re using, do one of the following:
- In the enhanced profile user interface, click Login Hours, and then click on Edit.
- In the original profile user interface, scroll down to the Login Hours-related list and click Edit.
- Set the days and hours when users with this profile can log in to the org.
- To let users log in at any time, click Clear all times. To prohibit users from logging in on a specific day, set the Start Time to 12 AM and the End Time to 12 AM.
- Click Save.
Once you have saved the settings, you have successfully restricted the login hours for the users in Salesforce.
